"Crybaby Bridge" -- Avon, Indiana Funny thing about history; no matter how much people try to forget it, the truth remains, just waiting for someone to come stumbling upon it. This is the case with Crybaby Bridge in Avon. The land around it has long since been developed and improved. New roads have been built, new buildings erected and new memories surrounding the area. Try as it might though, the present cannot seem to mask the aged feel of this reputed bridge. The Background: Crybaby Bridge is a railway bridge over White Lick Creek. The ghost of a construction worker from when the bridge was built, and the sounds of a baby crying, supposedly from an incident during which a baby was inadvertently dropped into the creek from the bridge can be heard. Our Investigation: This particular night was a little chilly, but the moon was full and we were excited to get started. The area is a little unconventional; the street is busy and hard to cross, the bridge is high and there are bullet riddled "No Trespassing" signs around it. Luckily, we have connections. Now, take all this, and add in the fact that we were forced to rappel off side of this 80 foot tall piece of iron and concrete just to gain access to the hidden chambers inside. That pretty much sums up the difficulties of conducting this investigation. The inside of the bridge contains a chamber running through the center from end to end. Above the supports, there are several small rooms with no windows, light source or features… just an iron bench bolted into the wall, rusting and going unused. These rooms make for excellent echoes, and if you're not careful, you could easily mistake a reverberating voice for something more paranormal. In all, the bridge was really interesting. It presented us with a lot of obstacles that put our skills to the test. We definitely had to prove we weren't just some fly by night operation to thoroughly check this place out. The Results: As usual, there was nothing major on most of our meters. We got a few EMF spikes, but we can easily attribute it to the large transformer located just 50 meters west of our location. As such, they had to be excluded from our findings. We did, however, get a few hits on EVP. 1.) EVP – Aside from garbled noise we couldn't identify, we did get one Class B. It clearly was a little pissed off at Sean and had a few choice words for him. Most of which we couldn't make up, but there is no mistaking the fact that he is calling him a "bastard." The Conclusion: There is definitely a lot of rumor surrounding this bridge, telling tales of excitement and terror. There are tons of personal accounts, all seeming to corroborate, but we didn't gather enough evidence to call this one haunted. That is not to say that it isn't… just that we didn't find enough to call this one a definite. We suggest you safely experience this place for yourself and make the judgment call. ![]() You can view all of the photos and EVP's for this investigation in our Crybaby Bridge Gallery If you just wish to hear the EVP's feel free to utilize the media clips below: As with any EVP you have to take in your surroundings and environment before you begin to identify any type of EVP as legitimate. With this set of recordings we accounted for the busy road and environmental factor and then picked out the most distinctive audio clips.
In This EVP We Picked Up A Possible Spirit Saying, "I Died Here".
While Sean Was Doing EVP Recordings Below The Bridge He Was Slightly Provoking And Received The Response, "It's A Bastard". We Don't Quite Know If It Was Talking About Him Or Something Entirely Different.
The Final EVP We Picked Up Was When Craig Was Inside Of The Bridges Chambers. It's Worth Noting That There Is Fairly No Possible Way A Frog Or Any Other Creature That Could Make This Noise Was Either Inside Of The Chamber Or Near Enough To Be This Loud. As For What We Think It Is... We're Guessing It's Either A Scratching Noise Or A Choking Sound. |
